This is an absolutely brilliant piece of kitchen equipment for the price. Not only is it capable of slicing cucumber so thinly that you can read a newspaper through it there is also an option to cut julienne strips of varying widths as well.Very pleased.The first time my husband used this he took 3mm off the top of his finger. He was cutting celery (so you couldn;t use the food holder) and it slipped.It's really good at what it does. Cuts apple with ease.But please buy some cut protective gloves and wear them whe you use it!As long as you keep your fingers out of the way, and remember when washing it to wipe from the bottom to the top, away from the direction of the blade, it is really easy and safe to use. Fantastically quick when making salads, neatly slicing cucumber, tomatoes, onion, carrot and apple. Makes chips just the size I like, and julienne carrots.I have only used it once. I borrowed one from a friend so decided I needed my own. I needed to cut long strips of courgette , a bit fiddly but OK. Cucumber was easy but tomato not possible. Need to try potatoes next .Good sharp blade but you have to be very careful as one have of the stainless steel surface is hinged exposing the cutting blade below. Legs fold out from behind and donot fold completely flat so takes up space when storing. would not say they are professional quality but good enough for a home kitchen
